He was rented out for photos at $5 a picture: a lion cub, declawed schedule pending, passed hand to hand on a beachfront. A video reached us on a Tuesday; by Friday we had the confiscation order under Law 47/2017.

The legal case took months. The rehabilitation took longer — a cub raised as a prop does not know how to be a lion. This week he stepped out of a travel crate and onto sanctuary grass, and the first thing he did was run.
