Care guides & FAQ
Adopting
How does the adoption process work?
You apply online (four short steps), we call you within three working days, you meet the animal, and we do a short home conversation. Most adoptions complete within two weeks.
Is there an adoption fee?
We ask for a contribution that covers part of the vaccination and sterilization costs. No animal is ever adopted out unvaccinated or unsterilized.
Can I adopt if I live outside Lebanon?
Yes, for some animals. International adoptions need extra time for permits and travel arrangements. Mention your country in the application and we will confirm what is possible.
Care guides
Bringing a rescued cat home: the first two weeks
Start with one quiet room, a litter box far from food, and no pressure. Let the cat set the pace. Most rescues need seven to fourteen days before they claim the whole house — and your bed.
Feeding a rescued dog
Two measured meals a day, transition to new food over a week, and always fresh water. Rescued dogs may guard food at first; feed them in peace, away from traffic, and it usually fades.
When should I sterilize my pet?
From five to six months of age for both cats and dogs. Sterilization prevents suffering at scale — one unsterilized cat can lead to hundreds of street kittens within a few years.
Fostering
Who pays for food and vet care during fostering?
We do. Fosters provide the home, the safety and the patience; Animals Lebanon covers veterinary treatment and food.
How long does a foster placement last?
Usually two to eight weeks, until the animal recovers or is adopted. You choose the duration you can offer — even short placements save lives.
